Coldplay gets a lot of flak. But I like a lot of them.
They were accused of stealing some of this from a band named Creaky Boards.
Then guitarist Joe Satriani sued them for copyright infringement on this.
Then Cat Stevens said it was similar to one of his songs.
Then some music professor said all 3 songs had the same melody structures to music by Alessandro Parisotti and Giovanni Battista Pergoles who both died in the late 1700s.
So.
Cat Stevens and Joe Satriani and Creaky Boards must have all plagiarized it then too.
Why is it special to me?
Well, I played the album quite a bit when it was released. And my then 12-year old son must have absored some of it because I once heard it working on something in his room and humming and singing it to himself.
I’ve never forgotten that.
