So I’ve been cleaning and reorganizing the basement in preparation to bring all of the Transformers back out of storage to finally deal with them. (15 years or so in the making really!)
I found 2 of my favorite early-mid 80s frame promo posters from DC and Marvel.
Working in a comic shop in my teens had some benefits. Namely that when the promotional materials served there purpose, I’d take the ones that interested me. (Unfortunately, most arrived folded which sucked!)
So here’s the promo poster for Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 featuring the death of Supergirl. Pure George Pérez perfection.
The second is a promo poster announcing the debut of my much beloved and now mostly forgotten Infinity Inc. with art by the amazing Jerry Ordway.
As I’ve mentioned before, I was the odd “Earth-Two” kid. The one who fell in love with the Justice SOCIETY of America and pretty much everything Roy Thomas was writing for DC at the time including the also mostly forgotten All-Star Squadron.
The only flaw on both of these?
Al Rothstein’s (Nuklon) very very very odd and dated mohawk. (NOTE: If you saw that super mediocre Black Adam movie from a few years back, then you saw Al in his current Atom Smasher identity.)
Hopefully one day DC will collect the old Infinity Inc. issues.
A lot of amazing great things came out of the aftermath of Crisis on Infinite Earths, but the loss of Earth-Two wreaked havoc on the continuity of The JSA, the All-Star Squadron, and Infinity, Inc.
