If you’d have told me that I would enjoy a TV series build around the 1960’s Charlton Comics character Peacemaker I’d have laughed in your face.
Yet here I am, in 2025, 100% loving James Gunn’s Peacemaker!!!
And James Gunn can write some of the strongest comic book-ish girl bosses in a way that makes them legitimately feel real and not the Mary Sue-esque women we’ve seen on screen the past 10 or so years.
Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt is so phenomenally kick ass every week. She’s skilled. She’s broken by her past. She gets here ass kicked and handed back to her yet doesn’t let it stop her. Just pure gold for me!
Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo never fails to impress me week in and week out. I love every moment when she and John Cena are on screen.
And while we are at it, while only a small role, Nhut Le’s Judomaster is THE best! I am not sure if Judomaster is meant to have The Gay™ or not, but the character being so catty and snarky, especially to Steve Agee’s John Economos is fantastic. (And Le’s fight scenes have always been simultaneously fantastic and hilarious!)
