I can still remember when both The New Teen Titans and Legion of Super-Heroes shifted to having both a newsstand book and then the main books being done in the then new Baxter paper format.

Of course, while the improved paper and printing were a godsend in some instances, it definitely contributed to what eventually would result in comics becoming overpriced and outside the range of children, especially with the loss of newstand sales.
But oh did it all George Pérez’s true pencil style to shine, especially when he inked himself.
I still remember being blown away at his experimenting with the Baxter Titans book, the improved printing and paper allowing his fine detail to shine through.
And oh… when he started to use raw and mostly uninked pencils in Issue 2 for effect… WOW!
I don’t think the digital versions do the actual printed pages justice on how truly beautiful of art he was producing then!
There are the moments in my comics-loving past that shine through for me. Those technical moments that changed things forever!
