About 2 weeks ago I was recommended a video on ye olde YouTube that was a skating performance by Ilia Malinin who I had never heard of.
Why had I never heard of him?
Well, I don’t shit about figure skating and only watch it during the Winter Olympics. (I’m a fan of curling, but I’ll watch some other ice/winter sports during the Olympics.)
Anyway, this guy’s routine was amazeballs!
And he did this forward flip that I’d never seen before during any event I’d watched. Really blew my mind.
I can 100% respect the effort it takes to train one’s body and mind to perfection to accomplish amazing physical feats. It blows my mind when you add “on ice” to it as well as “speed”.
(Of course, my body was damaged from 10 years old with my knee cartilage condition so there was never such a thing in my body. Well, I suppose I could. But pain and depression have always destroyed every attempt I’ve tried, even at a young age.)
Anyhoo… I was fed another vid of Malinin performing at another event and this time he incorporated back flips into his routing. Such bad craziness.
This morning I was fed this new video.
The guy’s amazing and if I’m not mistaken, #1 (or pretty close) in terms of being the best current men’s figure skater! Mad props to you dude! Mad props!
I eagerly await his performances in Milan at the XXV Winter Olympics. I’ll be watching as I recover from my January hip replacement.
You da boss man, but your black outfits are SO MUCH better than the one you were wearing in this event! Choose wisely next February! (This odd leather bondage one is… how does one say in English… kind of ass!)
