Rewatched Martin Scorsese’s 1995 film Casino today.
I had forgotten what an incredible film this is.
It is amazing he Scorsese intercuts the casino operations early on, building up the whole thing and then as time progresses so much of that slowly falls until it crashes down.
De Niro and Pesci are fantastic.
I had completely forgotten that Sharon Stone was in this. (Yeah, it has been a long time since I last watched it!) I don’t really know if her performance is really all that Oscar worthy since she was nominated. But I haven’t bothered looking to see who she was up against and their roles. She did win the Golden Globe though.
The violence is there, but it oddly feels somewhat reserved. Like I feel it could have been worse and even more gruesome yet Scorsese kept holding it back.
