I watched a fantastic video this evening from the YouTube Channel “matttt – comic & manga history” about the late great comic writer/artist Darwyn Cooke.
I so very much loved his work.
He and Ed Brubaker’s 2001 run on “Catwoman” completely took her in a 180° direction that likely has many aspects that linger in her current iterations.
His magnum opus “New Frontier” was pure amazement and I still need to see the animated adaptation one day.
Cooke brought amazing simplicity to his superheroes with a mastery of panel pacing and graphic design that very few creators achieve.
He as a massive breath of fresh air after the horrid 1990s storytelling tropes.
He, much like George Pérez, is sorely missed.
