An insanely wonderful illustration of the purple one-eyed monstrosity, and also my favorite Transformer, Shockwave.
Since I’ve been out of the TF game for some time, I can only assume this is drawing is based on a new toy or his own interpretation of the only Generation 1 Shockwave.
It is pretty great.
Once Hasbro reacquired the Shockwave name in the late 2000s (let’s forget the Shockblast name), I’ve been happy that the character as he is most closely remember as has been interpreted in other toy lines and media.
The wonderful think is that most attempts to create a truly new version tend to fail, with the original overall G1 look coming back in slightly different ways.
And let’s face it. It is truly iconic.
And the purple and gray? Chef’s kiss!
Hell, even my project car, my 1972 1302 Beetle, Å»uczek BrzÄ™czyszczykiewicz, may still yet see the light of day and be resto-modded in purple and gray!!! (Though with money being so tight, that probably won’t happen anymore. He sits in the driveway getting older and more rusty.)
Chuong apparently came to the TF scene long after I left as a collector but I’m loving what I’m seeing of his work.
