The original Who’s Who Entry for the Golden Age Selina Kyle appeared in Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #4 (1985).
Selina doesn’t look a day over 30 for a woman who is 85 years old! (Well, from her first appearance in 1940!)
I’ve always loved Selina. And I am still so happy that DC had the late great Dave Stevens illustrate her in the fashion of a 1940’s pin-up girl here!
Now I’ve loved various “eras” of the modern Selina, especially the Darwyn Cooke run, but the original Selina will always be special to me due to the fact she’s the mother of Helena Wayne (The Huntress), one of my favoriate so-called legacy heroes who succeeded her parents.
Selina’s death was very lame and rather empty in 1977’s DC Super-Stars #17. Paul Levitz really should have given her a better send off. However, her death was not as bad as her husband Bruce’s death, which was just plain stupid to not have been caused by one of the Golden Age rogues.
