I do not understand why they released Craig with Stripe sculpted into the figure.
By doing so, tooling (aka the mold) that is used to make these cannot be used to create a simple Super Craig redeco to go with the Wonder Tweek.
It is very similar to how they sculpted Wonder Tweek’s head band into the tooling, so you can never just do a simple basic Tweek redeco.
The cost of creating a mold/tool can be in the major thousands of dollars. Perhaps they are using some kind of non-metal tooling now for injected mold plastic that allows for much cheaper production. I mean, Funko has made so many figures that I cannot imagine they could each the cost of all that tooling creation since I doubt some of these figures generate much revenue.
This is why Hasbro and Takara-Tomy reissue so many repaints and redecos of the same figures in the Transformers line. They are trying to recoup that those tooling costs.
But these do look much simpler, so the tooling costs would be less costly.
Alas, I feel like I’ll never have a Super Craig nor a basic Tweek to have matching sets.
