I have been very shocked that DC Studios (and prior entities) have not attempted to produce a live adaption of Mike Barr and Brian Bolland‘s phenomenal Camelot 3000 series from the early 1980s.
It is one of those self-contained story that would have been excellent source material to go up against Game of Thrones and the like.
It is basically the story of a reincarnated King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, re-emerging in the year 3000 A.D. and deals with them defending against an alien invasion, with goodl old Morgan Le Fay in the mix as well.
This story had what would eventually become so-called “woke” ideology literally 40 years before it was the thing to bitch about in the western world.
I mean, it was a brilliant means to explore some things. Tristan being reincarnated as a woman, and the resulting gender identity issues with a reincarnated Isolde is just great material here!
There’s actions! There’s aliens! There’s swords! There’s sorcery!
What more does one need!?!?!?!
Come on James Gunn!
Help a brother out here! Gives some serious thoughts to adapting this for HBO Max!
