With the recent significant shift and potential collapse of the primary infrastructure of #GorlWorld to irrelevance, the YouTube and other reaction vectors based on GorlWorld content has shifted as well.
While the universe waits to see if Amberlynn read can survive more than a few more days of LOLCowBus, and with Foodie Beauty banned from her new attempt to stream on Twitch, the impact on GorlWorld content is happening.
YouTuber MrSnowFlake, one of my primary GorlWorld inputs, appears to have had so much free time now without the girls really being online in their native habitats that he’s gone on to broadening his main channel content and has started calling out YouTuber Internet Anarchist for plagiarism à la HBomberBuy.
I’ve watched Internet Anarchist for a few years now, and while I suspected that either he was using other people’s content (or vice versa), I didn’t care enough to go deeper down that rabbit hole.
There are so many YouTubers out there that occupy that specific Streamer Drama Commentary Niche, and so many cover the exact same thing using visuals that all more or less look the same (video assets, images, thumbnails, etc.) that I’ve always assumed there had to be some level of plagiarism, or at the very least “Oh, so and so just a video on subject X! It must be hot so I’ll do something on subject X too!) That is in fact the underlying structure of trying to go viral to increase your clicks and watch time to generate more money. (I get it. There’s a flood of similar content always being created and it has to be an active choice. No accidents really.)
I was mostly interested here in the possible connection wondering if MrSnowFlake had not lost the drama of ALR and Foody Beauty, would he even have bothered spending the time that lead him to make a video on Internet Anarchist’s obvious similarities to others. That to me is the potential fascinating thing here. The causality of one thing creating the other, all within the streamer space on YouTube.
I have no idea where I’m going with this. Just more noise in my life.
But it does amaze me how little actual creative works are out there anymore.
Commentary channels’ “content” just consists of commenting on other people’s “content”. Reaction channels’ just consists of commenting on other people’s “content”.
And this sort of thing just repeats itself over and over again in the YouTube space. Over and over and over and over again.
Hell, even the series I’ve started working on is just me commenting on other people’s creativity (fan art/fan fiction). Believe me… I am ALWAYS aware of this fact.
I think that is why this whole topic of online plagiarism has really caught my eye the past few days.
It goes back to what I was writing about the other day in terms of what quality is.
I think in fact that quality exists for perhaps 5% of everything. The other 95% of everything is just noise and slop many of us, and I use this verb lightly, “create” to feel as if we are being creative but we aren’t. We aren’t actually doing anything but assembling this or that, throwing an opinion on it, and then finding some source of success in it being an acceptable derivative thing.
Honestly, is any of this reaction/commentary stuff anything more than the “slop” being churned out by Gen AI LLMs?
This really has nothing to do with Mr SnowFlake, Internet Anarchist, Amberlynn Reid, Foodie Beauty, or any other people.
I think it ultimately comes back to me having attempted multiple times at various so-called creative projects for YouTube (or elsewhere) that never feel real. Never feel truly authentic to me. They all just feel like the same noise and crap that everyone else slops out.
It is my own hypocrisy that I’m dealing with.
I want to be so much more. I want to give so much more. But I’m old and broken and don’t even know where to begin to create something authentically new and original.
And in a world in which I’m now bitching about AISlop on a daily basis, and yet am consuming slop of a different type, does anything really matter any more?
Is it time to just disappear from the interwebs, remove the apps from my smartphone and just use it for phone calls?
I was blogging in the 90s on my own domains with hand-coded HTML way before it was a thing to blog on platforms. Hell. the fucking word blog wasn’t even around yet.
I just want to be so much more than I am or than I can actually be in 2026.
Once again, this entire post got away from me. It started with reacting to somebody else’s drama and coming back to my own personal drama, which is honestly the core of my problems and pain.
What the hell am I even writing about?
I’m going to go lay down.
