I love The Postal Service’s cover of John Lennon’s Grow Old With Me.

Another band that I knew of but really didn’t listen to back in the 90s.

I don’t know why but I just never associated them with Australia for some reason. Is it me or do Australian musicians/bands just don’t hit big in the US anymore?

🎧 Sufjan Stevens’ 2006 Austin City Limits “Casimir Pulaski Day” 🎧
Tied for my #1 Sufjan Stevens’ song, this is an interesting old live performance with massive supporting instrumentation. The studio track has a bit more intimacy this lacks.

The Decemberists’ 2006 album The Crane Wife. I’ve slowing been listening to all their albums.

Dolores O’Riordan’s 2007 solo album Are You Listening?. O’Riordan had one of those voices that pierced into me. Her death was far too early.

Using an empty whiskey flask as a walkie-talkie!
Karl Hyde (of Underworld) performing 8-Ball Live. I so love this song. One of Underworld’s best for me. This live performance does it justice too! Blows my mind he’s almost 70!

R.E.M.’s 1984 album Reckoning. R.E.M.’s 2nd album. A promise of things to come. So. Central Rain and (Don’t Go Back To) Rockville are the songs that only the unedumacated masses are probably familiar with.

U2’s 1980 album Boy (2008 Remastered). Early U2 is the best. All the elements in their “sound” are there in most of the tracks on Boy and you get the vibe of what they would become by the early 90s.

Perfection.
What is one song that comes on and you have to stop and listen to it fully? Something that is part of who you are. Something integrated into the core of your existence. New Order’s “Blue Monday” is one of mine.
